New intelligent building procurement model in SA financial services sector

“Our work with the financial services sector in particular indicates that provision for intelligent infrastructure is increasingly being made right from the word go during the design phases of the new headquarters of some of South Africa’s leading financial institutions,” says Hemphill.

EES is providing the consultancy for the intelligent infrastructure of the new corporate head-office of privately owned investment management firm, Allan Gray, a household name in the South African financial services sector. The landowner and client in this project is the V&A Waterfront. The development is to be called ‘No. 1 Silo.

The V&A is in the process of developing the building for the investment firm, who are consolidating their Cape Town facilities with the construction of this new 18,100 m² head-office situated at the V&A Waterfront’s Silo Square. The No. 1 Silo project is scheduled for completion in July this year. This location is centrally situated between Cape Town city and the main business hub of the Waterfront.

2013 – a year that promises economic recovery

Optimistic that 2013 promises to be a year of economic recovery and encouraged by Government’s multibillion infrastructure programme, EES is expanding. We believe that this expansion initiative will add significant value to the services we offer our clients.

The initiative takes the form of strengthening our workforce, opening up new offices in Bryanston, Gauteng, embarking on a number of inspiring new projects, and of course maintaining our total commitment to ongoing projects both local and international.

We welcome Jaco Cronje who joined EES as a new Operations Director at the beginning of February this year. We believe his expertise and experience as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, coupled with management experience, will enhance our client focus and services. We have also strengthened our CAD team with Keegan Solomon joining us.

The opening of a new EES office will enable us to consolidate our presence in Gauteng, and have improved availability for face-to-face interaction with clients and suppliers.

And talking about inspiring projects, congratulations to Allan Gray whose new corporate head-office at the V&A Waterfront has just been awarded a six-star Green rating – this is only the second building in South Africa to have been awarded the sought-after six-star rating.

In the latter part of last year we engaged in an internal process to explore a new look and we have refreshed our brand, logo, marketing content and website.

We’re excited about being more accessible to our clients, and hope that together we can continue to contribute to economic growth and infrastructure development here and abroad in the months and years to come.
