Heidi Berge is Electrical Engineering Solutions’ bursary student for 2009. A student at the University of Cape Town she  has just completed her third year studying mechatronics engineering.

She is spending her year-end vacation working with EES,  getting hands-on experience with our team’s designing and consulting tasks. This is new to her, she says. Her previous vac jobs were with mechanical engineering concerns where she was involved in making things.

Next year Heidi will embark on her 4th year thesis on a topic she has yet to choose.

So far Heidi has enjoyed the team spirit and support at EES.

Managing director Bradley Hemphill says Heidi embodies the “characteristics we look for in our team - a smart, passionate go-getter who’s not afraid of hard work.”
Her position on the UCT Engineering Department’s Dean’s merit list  for the past two years  - and 2008’s winner of the Klaus-Jurgen Bathe Prize - is proof of that.

She excelled in mathematics (99%) and physical science (96%) when she matriculated with six ‘A’ symbols from Bergvliet High School in 2005. The same year she won the SA Physics Olympiad.

EES’s first bursary was given to Ludwig Sabor in 2007, who is currently actively involved with our major projects whilst studying part time at CPUT towards his B.Tech.
